Location : S Ward & L-157 Wards of Powai, Mumbai

The SWM rules 2016 emphasizes on 3 way segregation and on-site composting of biodegradable waste. But even after 4 years, the implementation is bleak. The waste is mixed by almost every household and is picked up for free by the corporation compactor trucks to dump the waste in to dumping grounds.

The project objective is to provide momentum to the concept of 'On-site waste management' by implementing it and operating it at 50 condominiums in Powai.

Key interventions under this project are:

• Ensuring Source Segregation in 5 condominiums.
• Channelizing non-biodegradable waste to the aggregators and ensuring recycling of the same.
• Helping the corporation with conducting awareness sessions.
• Installing composting units in condominiums for composting of biodegradable waste.
• Conducting housekeeping trainings & resident awareness sessions and public awareness activities.
