Congratulations to Saahas for being the national torch-bearers!

The award was presented at the 8th Regional 3R Forum in Asia and Pacific held from 9 to 12 April 2018, in the cleanest city of India, Indore. The 3R Awards organised jointly by MoHUA, Ministry of Environment, Japan, and the Nations Centre for Regional Development commemorates exceptional work in waste management across the country. We are glad to announce that Saahas has emerged as the winner for its inspiring work in Bangalore, Hubballi, Ballari, Chennai, and Gurugram.

The forum was inaugurated by Honourable Lok Sabha Speaker, Mrs. Sumitra Mahajan, and Mr. Hardeep S. Puri, Minister of State, Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs. Seen in the picture are Saahas representative receiving the 3R excellence award from Ms. Maya Singh, Minister of Urban Development, Government of Madhya Pradesh, along with Mr. Durga Prasad Mishra, Secretary, MoHUA, and other dignitaries.

The Regional 3R Forum in Asia and the Pacific was launched in 2009 in Tokyo, Japan with the objective of integrating the 3Rs in policy, planning, and development. The forum provides a strategic platform for sharing best practices in 3R areas, including new and emerging issues of concern in waste management. This year, under the theme of ‘’Achieving Clean Water, Clean Land and Clean Air through 3R and Resource Efficiency- A 21st Century Vision for Asia-Pacific Communities”, over 40 candidates from different countries in the Asia-Pacific region were rooting for the prestigious award.

This award comes at a juncture when Saahas is expanding its program coverage to other states including Gujarat, Haryana and Goa. Recognition of our work at national level encourages us and we pledge to continue our efforts to build zero waste communities!
