Background:
Barota is a small Panchayat in the Karnal district of Haryana where the Dharampal Satyapal Foundation is carrying out various development programs. In order to meet the need for better management of waste, it has initiated activities to set up a holistic SWM system. 

Objectives: 
Saahas is training the DS Foundation team in the steps required in setting up a good SWM system. Saahas team trains the local officials and closely follows up on the implementation. Guidance is also provided to overcome the challenges faced on the ground locally. The objective of this intervention is to demonstrate a model by which we can train local grassroots NGOs to add solid waste management as part of their development work in the villages. The support will be provided through on-ground training and monitoring coupled with online support.
