Background/Need

Under the RESET project, a 2-TPD biogas plant was established at Osmania University. The plant generates an average of 230 m³ of biogas per day, while the existing storage capacity is only 100 m³. To effectively utilize the excess biogas, this project proposes an additional 130 m³ gas storage facility, along with Kitech pipeline infrastructure and kitchen stove components, ensuring safe distribution and optimal utilization of the generated biogas.

Objectives

  • The plant is intended not only to reduce carbon emissions and dependence on fossil fuels, but also to serve as a Center of Excellence in Sustainable Waste Management
  • It will provide hands-on learning, practical exposure, and interdisciplinary research opportunities for engineering students—particularly in the fields of environmental engineering, energy systems, and climate change mitigation.
  • This will also create awareness and learning opportunities for thousands of primary and secondary school students.
