Like in other rural areas, the villages in Kota district lack regular door-to-door waste collection systems and most of the waste is dumped in open dumpsites in a mixed manner. This waste is periodically burnt in open, and the waste dumping and burning are leading to air, water and ground pollution.

The objective of this intervention is to support 8 villages falling under 3 Gram Panchayats to set up holistic solid waste management systems by improving source segregation, ensuring people handover the waste to the collector, set up required collection and processing infrastructure, and ensure sustainability of the system by collecting the required user fee from the residents. This is being done through extensive awareness campaigns and by building the capacities of the Panchayat members and officials.
