Background/Need:

The increasing urbanization, lack of awareness among citizens and no institutional structure to handle C&D waste have led to ramped C&D waste dumping in the city. This waste is mostly dumped in green belts, in and around the bio-sensitive region of Aravalli and open areas in the city, directly impacting its biodiversity and making the nearby villages highly vulnerable to higher air pollution (young children and senior citizens are more vulnerable to this) and soil degradation.

Objectives:

  1. Build Awareness across RWAs, waste collector agencies and civil contractorsC&D waste diversion
  2. Streamline the C&T system to divert a capacity of 40 Tonnes per day (TPD) for recycling instead of being dumped.
  3. Strengthening the regulatory framework
