Background:

The district Panna is located in the state of Madhya Pradesh in India, close to the historic town of Khajuraho.Panna, despite existing infrastructure and an urban local body, faces challenges with unsegregated  waste dumped in landfills. The Panna City project aims to transform it into a model city by implementing source segregation, proper waste management, and maximizing resource recovery.

Objectives:

Panna to become a model city in Madhya Pradesh for handling waste properly. Ensure minimum waste to landfill and maximize resource recovery. Ensure best utilization of existing infrastructure and manpower to establish SWM system in accordance with SWM rules 2016 and ensuring dignified livelihood of the Waste worker.
