Background/Need

Shankarpally Mandal in Rangareddy district comprises 25 villages, including Pilligundla, Gopularam, Proddutur, Maharajpet, and Donthanpally within a 5km radius. A recent field visit revealed significant gaps in solid waste management, including limited household segregation, staff shortages and budget constraints. Current dependence on private contractors for landfill disposal is unsustainable, highlighting the urgent need for structured, sustainable and community-driven waste management interventions.
