Background:
Arekere is a ward in south Bangalore that is also home to a beautiful Arekere lake. Due to neglect in upkeep and indiscriminate dumping of waste, the lake has become heavily polluted posing severe danger to the health of people living around it.

Objectives:
The objective of our intervention is to ensure proper door-to-door collection from the households around the lake so that there is no waste dumping around it. The objective also is to increase the source segregation levels, set up decentralized wet waste processing engage the community by setting up lane composters, and promote sustainable menstruation. Zero-waste festival celebrations are being promoted and the single-use plastic ban is being implemented in the market areas of the ward.
